Formats

Standard Format
Our standard format bolds the moderator or lead speaker, the respondents are un-bolded and a space is skipped between speakers. This is available in true verbatim, clean verbatim or summarized (shown below).

True Verbatim
This verbatim format provides you with the most detailed transcript of your audio. Every word is transcribed, except all the 'uhms and uhs' and 'stu-stutters.’

Example of True Verbatim (53 words)
How much information did Joe or anyone else provide - give you as to what our report is about?
I received, you know, a brief explanation. There were three main points: the history of our division, difficulties we currently face and ideas for the future.
Ok.
Yes, I have – I received the same information.

Clean Verbatim
This format is designed to provide a verbatim format that includes only the meat of the speech. The content of the speaker's responses are verbatim, but we omit the leading words, such as “right,” “okay,” “you know,” “alright,” etc. (unless they are an answer to a question) and non-verbal utterance such as 'uh..' and 'uhm..', 'double- doubled' words and 'st-st-stutters’. Leading words and verbal ticks are removed.

Example of Clean Verbatim (47 words)
How much information did Joe or anyone else give you as to what our report is about?
I received a brief explanation. There were three main points: the history of our division, difficulties we currently face and ideas for the future.
Yes, I have the same information.

Edited
The speaker’s responses are not verbatim, rather summarized to capture the essence of the audio without every word.

Example of Edited (26 words)
How much information did Joe give you?
Three main points: the history of our division, difficulties we face and ideas for the future.
(One woman agrees.)

Speaker Identification
Same as our standard format in true or clean verbatim, though speakers are
identified by name.

Example of Speaker Identification in Clean Verbatim (can also be provided in true verbatim or summarized formats) (50 words):
Moderator:  How much information did Joe or anyone else give you as to what our report is about?
James: I received a brief explanation. There were three main points: the history of our division, difficulties we currently face and ideas for the future. Diane:   Yes, I have the same information.

Live Notes
Need feedback right away? A remote notetaker provides live notes via streaming audio, video or conference call. This format is not verbatim, but rather detailed notes of your research. Quick and cost efficient.

Example of Live Notes (24 words)
How much information did you receive on the report?
Brief explanation. Three main points history of division, difficulties faced and ideas for future. Same.
